Silver Jewellery Day Classes

Silver Jewellery Day Classes

From January 2010 we shall be running small jewellery day classes in our shop premises. The aims of the course are to give students grounding in the basics of jewellery making in a workshop environment. The course includes instruction on general fabrication techniques for precious metals and a range of surface decoration techniques, such as roller printing and using punches.

The course is aimed at students with little or no experience. The level of experience affects what each student can achieve in the time, but we aim to ensure that even a complete beginner will be able to complete one piece of work.

Beginners are advised to start by making a simple band ring out of silver sheet, which teaches important and basic techniques and provide a starting point from which to develop a more exciting piece of work to your own design. The groups are small and we will demonstrate techniques as well as helping each person individually.

Materials and techniques covered include:

  • Sawing, drilling, shaping with pliers sheet as well as wire.
  • Soldering a ring, soldering metals.
  • Texturing using rolling mills and paper or metal stencils and other materials.

Please contact us for more information, and if you would like to book a class.
