a feminine and sophisticated look…
I use the traditional technique of hand forging to create jewellery and items of silverware. I take inspiration from the way the metal changes under the different blows of the hammer, which I use to my advantage when designing.
In some jewellery pieces, hammer marks are retained and highly polished in order to create a glittering effect. In others, the silver is forged into an S curve and the surface is satinised and freshwater pearls are added to create a feminine and sophisticated look. The newest range of jewellery incorporates beautiful labradorite beads and diamonds for a touch of luxury.
In contrast, I want items of silverware to be highly finished so hammer marks are worked out to leave a smooth, minimalist surface. I feel they are more appropriate as contemporary objects on the table where they enhance and inspire modern living.
